CHIMSS is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which is elected each year by CHIMSS Members. The 2015-2016 Board is listed below.
Any CHIMSS Member may attend the CHIMSS Board of Directors meetings, which are held several times during each year. Contact the President or any other Board member to determine the time and location for upcoming Board meetings. |Patrick J. Guffey, President Elect|
Patrick J. Guffey, MD is CHIMSS’ President Elect. Patrick is a pediatric anesthesiologist at the University of Colorado and the Associate Clinical Director of the anesthesiology department at Children’s Hospital Colorado. He is the IT clinical champion for perioperative services, and serves on numerous other IT committees at Children’s Colorado. Patrick’s research work centers on using clinical IT and the EMR to further healthcare quality and patient safety, and he has written many articles, abstracts, and lectures on the subject. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSE in Chemical Engineering and an MD. He fulfilled his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Francisco and his fellowship training was performed in pediatric anesthesiology at the University of Colorado.
Frank Biondolillo, Sponsorship Chair
Frank Biondolillo is VP and Chief Technology Officer for Centura Health, the largest health care family in Colorado and the state’s fourth largest private employer. With over 30 years in Healthcare IT, Frank and his team built a datacenter facility for hospitals, clinics, and urgent care centers, then mirrored that data center at a site in Colorado Springs. Frank and his teams support over 150 healthcare locations in Colorado. Frank applies his extensive experience and vision in leveraging technology across all clinical and non-clinical aspects of patient care. He and his team are responsible for two data centers, data, voice and video networks, UNIX and Windows servers, database administration, interfaces, medical imaging, storage networks, low voltage cable infrastructure, desktop software administration, long term capacity and performance, data security, and IT service management. Sarah Sample-Reif - Program Chair
Sarah Sample-Reif is the CHIMSS 2015-16 Program Chair. Sarah has served numerous terms on the CHIMSS Board, including President (2012-13), President Elect (2011-12), and Membership Chair (2010-11), and has won the Spirit of HIMSS award for her outstanding dedication to building and promoting CHIMSS. Sarah is also very active in HIMSS National events, including HIT Advocacy and developing numerous collaborations with other State HIMSS Chapters.Sarah Sample-Reif brings 15 years of healthcare industry experience in the payer, provider and IT sectors. Sarah is currently the Vice President Health IT for Modis. Sarah’s has been responsible for the successful launch of the Healthcare Vertical for Kforce Colorado. Sarah’s passion for healthcare, technology, and people creates a natural to working simultaneously with consultants and clients. In addition, she is an active in community service for CHIMSS, CHSM, CMCC, and First Hand Foundation among others.

Melissa currently serves as the Accounts Director for HCTec Partners. In her three and a half years with HCTec, Melissa has worked with some of the largest clients in the West to deliver creative and effective solutions to staffing. Having lead large-scale Healthcare IT implementation projects across the country, Melissa brings with her extensive knowledge and lessons learned that help guide clients during their journey to clinical transformation through technology. Melissa also gives of her time to a Business for Transformation organization. Partnering with local business leaders to collaborate and share knowledge that is then imparted to entrepreneurs in under-served areas of the world, B4T is currently partnered with a group of entrepreneurs in Nairobi, Kenya setting up an Aquaponics business that will serve the local community.

Joe Bajek is currently the Director of I.T. at Radiology Imaging Associates (RIA), one of the largest private radiology practices in the western United States. Before joining RIA, he served as the Director of Enterprise Cloud Services in the President’s Office at The University of Colorado. From 1999 to 2012 he was the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Information Technology for the University of Colorado Hospital at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora Colorado. Prior to that he was the Manager of Data Networks for the U.S. Surgical Corporation (Now part of the Tyco Healthcare Group) and a Lead Senior Network Engineer with G.E. Capital. Originally from Connecticut, Joe holds a B.S. in Computer Science/Mathematics from the State University of New York Maritime College. He is a graduate of the G.E. Information Systems Management Program, a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management and Systesm (CPHIMS) and is a Fellow with HIMSS (the Health Information Management Systems Society).

Amy Feaster, Academic Chair
Amy Feaster is the Vice President of Information Technology for Centura Health. Amy and her teams support 17 hospitals, 7 senior living communities, medical clinics, affiliated partner hospitals, FlightForLife Colorado, 13 Colorado Health Neighborhoods and home care and hospice services with first class Information Technology Support. Centura Health, the region’s health care leader, is focused on connecting Colorado and Kansas to affordable, world-class care. All of the Centura hospitals have either achieved HIMSS Stage 7 or Stage 6 certification, and Centura has been award the prestigious Davies Award of Excellence for utilizing healthcare IT to achieve significant improvements in patient outcomes. Amy is the board chair for South Metro Health Alliance. She earned a Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology. Amy has been with Centura Health for over twenty-five years
Becky Jessen HIE LIaison
Becky Jessen is the Marketing and Communication Manager for Quality Health Network (QHN), a non-profit community collaborative located in Grand Junction, one of the first Health Information Exchanges (HIE) in the nation. Founded by local stakeholders to facilitate improvements in care quality and costs, QHN collects and distributes data to and from disparate healthcare organizations and authorized providers in the 40,000 square miles comprising the western Colorado region. Becky’s role at QHN is to develop and implement the marketing and strategic communications to further the organization’s initiatives and help mobilize the deployment of innovative healthcare information technology applications to improve outcomes, cost-effectiveness and promote patient engagement. Prior to joining QHN in 2012, Becky worked as the Marketing Director at Community Hospital in Grand Junction, for 29 years and served five years in the Peace Corps in Guatemala, CA. She is a graduate of Colorado State University, Colorado Master’s program in Education.
Angela Duncan, Advocacy Chair
Angela is a Principal with Breo Solutions, a Denver based management consulting firm. In her role, Angela is responsible for business development, client executive oversight, employee development as well as client service. Angela has been consulting for over 20 years, spending the last 12 years in healthcare working for both health plan and provider clients on both the business and IT side. Angela holds a BBA from the University of Notre Dame. This is her first year on the board.
Bonny Roberts, Advocacy Chair Elect
Bonny Roberts is the VP Customer Experience for Aventura. She began her career in healthcare IT at Yale New Haven Health System seventeen years ago. After Yale New Haven she was a product manager for an e-commerce company that was acquired and became the “bricks and mortar” headquarters for the Global Healthcare Exchange, a disruptive healthcare supply chain model that has achieved over $10 billion in procurement savings since its inception in 2000. Following four years as a product manager with GHX, Bonny returned to her graduate school alma mater, The Ohio State University (Medical Center,) where she facilitated clinician-driven IT project prioritization, supported custom application development and was a key team member to the selection and implementation of Epic Systems. In 2010, Bonny joined Aventura where she has driven implementations, account management and sales operations. If push comes to shove, Bonny would root for the Duke Blue Devils over The Ohio State University Buckeyes but will always call Ohio, “Home.”
Jill Sutton, Communications Chair
Jill Sutton is the Senior Vice President of Product Management and Editorial for Truven Health Analytics, an IBM Company. In this role, she leads Product Management for Provider markets, with offerings in the area of Care Management, Strategic Planning, Patient Engagement, Analytic Methods, and solutions designed to assist healthcare organizations with Clinical and Operational Performance Improvement. Jill also leads a clinical editorial team developing evidence-based decision support to assist clinicians at the point of care. Jill received her JD from Univeristy of Denver, College of Law.
Michael Archuleta, Professional Development
Michael is the Director of IT for Mt San Rafael Hospital, Trinidad Colorado, where he provides leadership, vision, and direction for use of technology to ensure support of the company’s business objectives. He is responsible for directing all efforts of the Information Services in the organization, including EMR systems and supporting technology. Michael has demonstrated a consistent record of success in leading departments and is responsible for planning, acquisition, implementation and management of health care information technology, clinical technology and the origination, communication and management of health care information across the continuum of care. Many of the technologies employed at Mt San Rafael Hospital are cutting edge, which has resulted in efficient care provider work flows which have improved the quality of patient care while positively affecting revenue. Michael and his team were presented the 2015 Healthcare’s Most Wired Award. Most recently, Michael was selected to serve on the Netapp Neural Network CXO Advisory Board. He is also an active Member of CHIME. He currently serves on the Career Development Committee, and the Fall Forum Planning Committee. Additionally, he was branded as Becker’s Hospital Review Top 100 CIOs to know in 2016

MariJo Rugh - Board Member at large
MariJo is currently the Vice President of Application Services at the University of Colorado Health and has responsibility for the UCHealth Affiliate Program, Ancillary and Clinical Support Applications, Integration and Interface Development, Image Management, Telehealth and Clinical Engineering. MariJo started as a medical technologist in the laboratory (more years ago than she would like to admit). She transitioned into healthcare information technology after realizing she wanted to have a broader impact which resulted in time at Cerner, Pyxis, Cincinnati Children’s, Albany Medical Center and Poudre Valley Health System. Experience includes IT strategy, general management, application implementations, day to day operations and support, vendor relationship management, P&L responsibility, contract negotiations, recruiting and sustaining strong teams. MariJo completed a Masters degree in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University in 2011.
Michael Jefferies - Board Member at Large
Michael Jefferies serves as Vice President and CIO at Boulder Community Health where he is responsible for implementing technology solutions that advance provider capabilities and operational efficiency. Michael joined Boulder Community Health in 2016 and has diverse work setting experience including acute care hospitals, consulting, healthcare IT outsourcing, and working for a leading Healthcare IT vendor. Prior to his current role Michael was Vice President of Information Systems at Longmont United Hospital in Boulder County, Colorado and previously worked at ACS/Xerox and McKesson providing IT solutions to hospitals across the country. He is especially passionate about improving the patient experience and giving providers tools to improve the quality of patient care. Michael holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration from the University of Colorado, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, the designation of CHCIO-E from CHIME and certifications as a PMP and CPHIMS
